HCS SB 306 -- STATE CAPITOL DOME ACCESS
SPONSOR: Crowell (Tilley)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Special Committee on
General Laws by a vote of 7 to 1.
This substitute requires the Commissioner of the Office of
Administration to provide each member of the General Assembly
with a key that accesses the dome of the Capitol Building.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and
FY 2010.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will allow members to
provide tours to constituents on weekends, holidays, or evenings
when access is otherwise restricted. Constituents often visit
during these times requiring members to contact security for
access to the dome.
Testifying for the bill was Senator Crowell.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
